"Eat food, not too much, mostly plants."
- Michael Pollan -
Fake Food is the bad guy, refined food, processed food, fast food, strange, gelatinous, extracted-from-something-that-used-to-be-food-mixed-with-mysterious-addictive-chemicals-food is the bad guy.
It's not our fault that the tongue likes sweet, but it is within our power to control what kind and how much sweet we give it.
There is an industry involved. We are unquestionably targeted in their efforts to sell us a truck load of corn in every processed food product we purchase, but we ARE NOT VICTIMS. We can choose to know more about what foods our bodies need and where those foods come from.
There are potentially four contributing authors to this blog. Aubrey, Jessica, Chani, and Nita. However, Nita (mom to the other three sisters) rarely checks her email so it will likely be the daughters who post here. The four of us are at the outset of our journey to achieve "optimal health". If you are interested in starting that same journey - talk to Aubrey, she'll get you started.
Together we are learning a new way to eat and wanted a space where we can share the recipes we find or invent as well as share our experiences and seek support. You are welcome here. We hope it can be a resource for anyone who is interested in good food choices.
Personally, I am not planning to include nutritional information for the recipes I post. They are mostly adaptations of recipes I find, or just my own creations so I can't give any specific nutritional information. Nor can I claim that they are the best food choices for everyone. All people have different needs because of different bodies and different health concerns. Be wise.
We hope there is something here for you, even if it just feeling the positive attitude we share as sisters and our determination to improve our bodies and lives. We support each other, and we are happy to support you.
